My friend Jon and I drove across country, starting in Austin and ending in San Francisco. We stopped in New Mexico - hoping to see some aliens but instead, a storm chased us out. We were the only ones on the highway, the air felt still. We could see a dark cloud in the distance, a cloud that was touching the earth. We realized it was a dust storm coming at us, around 100 miles an hour. We turned around and drove 110 down the road, within minutes the storm caught up to us. We stopped at a motel on the side of the road, pounding on the door to be let it. A drunk man answered with a cigarette in his mouth and gave us a key to a room. We could barely walk outside but made it safely into our room. We awoke in the morning to a beautiful pink sky... what an interesting day!
We continued onto the Grand Canyon (OMG WOW) and Vegas (GROSS). It was my first time in the gambling city. I spent 5 dollars at the slot machine and quickly realized the absence of windows and wanted out immediately. That will be my last time in Vegas - not my thing. The following day we drove through endless flower fields in southern california and spent a few days in LA where we vegged out, stayed with friends and met back up to drive to San Fran. The thick clouds welcomed us over the bridge and I spent the day wandering with my friend Megan. Happy times. Here are a few of my drawings from being on the road. Happy adventures my friends!
