Today I spoke with Noonday about my experience documenting one of their artisan partners in Vietnam. Noonday is an amazing company that I have to highlight. The founder, Jessica Honegger began selling fair trade jewelry to raise money for her son's adoption from Rwanda. The response was overwhelming and she started an ambassador program shortly after. Now she runs Noonday in Austin, Texas with her business partner, Travis Wilson. They focus on alleviating poverty through entrepreneurship, here in Texas and aboard. Today, they have ambassadors across the country, offering the opportunity to use purchasing power to create change in the world (while looking really good along the way)!
This October, I was so fortunate to spend a week in Hanoi, Vietnam, photographing and filming the small fair trade villages focusing on horn jewelry, lacquer and the Vibrant Stitches bag.
I was touched by the stories of the workers, how fair trade opportunities have given them the means to send their children to school and pay for proper medical care. They are now able to work in their villages with their family and friends; on an ancient trade that had been passed down through the generations. Noonday has given these groups the leverage to expand their businesses to larger audiences, and they're not only doing in Vietnam but across the globe! Check out their website to find our more on the impact their making and browse their online store - beautiful pieces that make a difference in our world!
